Putsie

I saw a large truck stop outside my house. Two men got out of the truck and walked over to the back of the truck. They pulled out what looked like a tan rug, but it cried out in pain. They tossed the tan rug, which ended up being a dying wolf, in to the middle of the road, got in their truck and drove off.

I called out to my mother and walked over to the animal. It had barely the strength to look up at me. Blood and puss was oozing out of the open part of the wolf's back. Someone had chopped the whole back off of the animal.

My mother and I took the wolf in, it was a she wolf, I named her Putsie, don't ask me why. I loved Putsie and she loved me. We went everywhere together.

A few years later, Putsie and I went on one of our long adventures by the sea. We ended up in a closed area, some sort of a junkyard. I didn't notice that we were not alone. I had walked around the junkyard looking for fun things to collect. There, amids the rubble was a wild wolf. I froze when I saw it. It wasn't happy with the intrusion. It growled and bared its teeth at me. I tried to walk backwards but I was trapped between a huge wall of junk and the angry wolf. Without so much as a warning the wild wolf leapt out at me. Putsie came flying out of nowhere pushing me back and landing head to head with the wild wolf.

I was petrified for my Putsie as she fought with the wild wolf. She managed to turn to me and I swear I knew she was telling me to run. I ran but I kept stopping to see if Putsie was alright. The fight was horrific. A few times it looked like the wild wolf was killing my Putsie, I wanted to run back with a stick and help her, but she got up and kept fighting until the wild wolf ran off in the other direction back to where it was hiding in the rubble.

My putsie saved my life. She was wounded and limping but she wagged her tail as she came to me. I hugged her and kissed her and took her home.

My darling Putsie how I still love you. I wish I could give you a great big hug and kiss right now.
