A friend begged me to go with her to our school dance auditions. I really didn't want to go. I had no clue about dancing.
It ended up being really fun, the teacher was beautiful and cool.
I ended up being accepted in to the All City Dance Company.
My friend wasn't.
Later, my friend tried again and she did get in.
My dance teacher choreographed a piece just for me. It was a huge honor for me to have her choreograph something with me in mind. It was wonderful and powerful and I loved it and I loved my dance teacher.
I no longer dance. But thanks to The All City Dance Company I got to dance with great people, even for famous choreographers such as Alvin Ailey and Martha Graham.
Dance teaches a lot about your body, soul, life, strengths, weaknesses. It gave me the strength to survive some really hard times in my life.
